Vegas, Baby

This past weekend daddy had to speak at a conference in Lake Las Vegas and mommy and Asa tagged along. Here are some photos from the trip, plus commentary.

Asa was in Vegas last year while in mommy's belly. When we landed, he made himself right at home.

Here is Asa relaxing on the cushy hotel bed, a vision in white. Little does he know, he's about to go swimming for the first time.

Swim diapers come in sizes S, M, and L, with the S fitting babies 16 to 26 pounds. Since Asa is still under 15 pounds, the S practically comes up to his armpits.

Mommy bought Asa a long-sleeved swimsuit to cover up as much of his delicate skin as possible. He thinks this was a tasty idea.

Asa's chewing shows us that the suit can handle moisture. What a good little sea monster!

On his first day in the pool, Asa wasn't sure he liked it. Okay, he didn't like it. At all. He did like being wrapped up in a towel afterward though.

Here is Asa dressed for an evening in the desert.

The second day heading to the pool and Asa is a regular surfer dude. [Note: Daddy scoffs at this silly sun hat.]

Peace.

Afterward, some love and understanding too.

Here is Asa on a plane, sans snakes.

Unfortunately the sleepy head image above didn't last long. During the flight west he napped a lot and was super friendly to all of our seat neighbors while awake. On the way back east, he cried his little face off for most of the flight (making no friends at all we're sure). We think it's because the captain's announcement woke him up as soon as he dozed off. He was back to normal by the time we landed.

Asa sat on mommy's lap looking out of the plane window while we were descending into Newark airport and listened intently as she described all that he was seeing outside--clouds and faraway houses and trees and lakes and roads and cars. But all we could picture was his little face looking out, like in the movies when you see the character through the window from the outside.
