The Asa Report
Ah, so almost a month has gone by with nary a post. We're very sorry. A lot has been going on. Here's the full report:
Asa has spoken his first three words!
Dada: said two weeks ago when playing with daddy, but we weren't sure we really heard it; said again this week when daddy walked into the room.
Good: grunted repeatedly when snarfing down tofu cubes. Asa really, really enjoys feeding himself.
Mama: said only once this past Sunday while looking up at mommy. Daddy was in the shower, so there were no witnesses.
This morning he may have said fan.
Another related development is Asa's penchant for pointing at things. And people. It seems he wants to know the names of everything around him. It started with the ceiling fan, which he has been pointing up at for weeks. (We thought it would be his first word.) Now we can't take him for a walk in the stroller without him leaning out the side with his little finger pointed. This can make for awkward situations.
More fun with words: This week we found that Asa will go get certain toys if we ask for them by name. It started with mommy randomly asking, "Where is your orange fish?" To her shock and delight, Asa crawled over to his toy box, stood up, and pulled it right out. He'll also bring you his red car and purple B.
In addition to pointing, talking, and fetching toys, Asa plays catch with us. His toy balls are just the right size for him to palm, and he has one heck of a throwing arm! We're working on his aim.
Finally, we have to report that Asa has a third tooth a-coming. Top right. Photographic evidence soon.
