Vacation, All I Ever Wanted
This time there's a good reason nothing has been posted in over a week: We took our first week-long family vacation, a relaxing sojourn to a beach house in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Asa had fun observing his parents barbecue, read, and sit on the deck. He also enjoyed a car ride to Mystic where he watched mommy and daddy eat pizza and ice cream. (Next year, when he's old enough to be slathered in sun block, we'll actually take him to a beach.) The camera didn't come out much during the low-key trip, but here are three choice images.

Borrowed Bumbo
Asa had a playdate this afternoon with Hudson, a fellow baby. While Hudson napped, Asa had a chance to try out his Bumbo seat.
"There are those striped things again."
"Wait, I'm not lying down, and no one is holding me."
"Whee, this is fun. Look, ma. One hand!"
Needless to say, Asa P. is getting a Bumbo of his own ASAP.

Daddy's Jeans
With the weather nearing 100 degrees the other day, mommy and Asa passed the time indoors with a full-on photo shoot. Here's Asa in vintage Wranglers circa 1970, once worn by none other than daddy. Thanks to Bubbe Cookie for saving these jeans, and anticipating the hipster trend.

After visiting Grandma, Asa went to New Jersey for an impromptu second barbecue, this time at Aunt Gail's.

Firsts, at Last
Hello, dear readers. Sorry for the two-week silence from Asa land. A lot has been going on in his world, including a few notable firsts: first airplane trip; first July 4th barbecue; and first 8-hour stretch of sleep. Guess which first we're most excited about?
The morning before his first flight, Asa took a nap on the big chair.
